Thoughts on making the Semantic Web a reality
Web 3.0 from Kate Ray on Vimeo. This documentary is brilliant and it’s completely rekindled my interest in semantics again. Admittedly I’ve been off the subject recently, however, the sceptics have made me want to add my two pence worth. I’m for the semantic web. BUT: We will be waiting for years before it materialises [...]
Web Trois
I was called into a brainstorming session last week for a prospective client that wanted to embrace web3. Que!? I hear you say. As a digital bod I was asked for my thoughts on the components that exemplified web3. What instantly came to mind was “asynchronist, always on, cloud stuff and utilities”. I shared my [...]
Wolfram Alpha knows about your domain!
I originally read about this over at blogstorm and I just had to try it out for my own domain. I particularly like the way it can show you your host location. Kind of big brotherish, but it’s still cool nonetheless. Get the widgets!

Early signs that Google could be going Semantic
So I read this post on readwriteweb earlier this week about Google exposing semantic data within it’s search results. It wasn’t too long ago that I predicted this would happen, and pointed out reasons as to why it was important to start using semantic mark up. Well there you have it!

The Google Social Graph and beyond
Referring back to my earlier post about The Semantic Web, I mentioned that new build projects should utilise things such as Microformats and RDF. One of the main reasons for this was to provide people with better usability of social networks, enabling them to find existing friends easily on new social platforms and facilitate portable, [...]

Marking up websites for The Semantic Web
We’re at a point now where we’re seriously talking to clients about semantically marking up their websites. The problem is clients a) don’t like jargon and b) Just want to know business implications and benefits. So many people are baffled by techies jabbering away about the semantic web and the components that enable it. There [...]

Google indexing flash, what will this mean for accessibility?
Google are indexing flash, the news most designers have been waiting for! Flash has always been a harder sell for the pure designer types who build flash heavy websites and do not take the search engine spiders into account. How will flash based sites rank within search engines in comparision to semantically optimised websites? With [...]

What the acquisition of Metaweb will mean for Google
