  • So Google launches a mobile and Apple move into advertising. The moves by both tech giants seem to have occurred in coincidental synchronicity; a kind of simultaneous diversification.

    Whilst there has been protest against Apple's recent acquisition of Quattro, we have to compare both Apple and Google to Microsoft. Microsoft have been diversifying their interests in mobile and digital advertising for years and the likes of Google and Apple are now out to do the same.

    We're going to see more toe treading happen as tech giants seek to diversify and maintain their revenues. The hardware market is becoming increasingly commoditised year-on-year and as profit margins tighten on hardware we will see old names pop up in different places.
