Recently I was in a meeting where somebody said twitter was a fad, that it will die and people WILL get bored. I guess there are no write or wrong answers to a statement like that, maybe the bird will tip off its perch, who knows!

What I am sure about is the new trend in communication Twitter has spawned. Twitter is the utility which has brought life-streaming and microblogging into the mainstream (before it was just the nerds). If people do move on from Twitter, they will only be moving onto more sophisticated or integrated life-streaming platforms.

Back to that original statement.

I’m sure there are many of you out there who hear and think the same thing, take a lookie at the video above from TED, perhaps it will change your mind about usefulness of Twitter, life-streaming and microblogging.

Seesmic is just hours of entertainment to be quite frank, but there are some serious innovative marketing uses a facility like this can provide.

We’ve all seen how effectively businesses have used twitter, Seesmic provides much more sticky and engaging content through video. Video posts on average seem to receive more replies in comparison to text tweets on twitter (try saying that with a mouthful).

With me being a preacher of all things video at moment it goes without saying: Seesmic is definitely one to watch and one to get involved with too!

dawdlr is a I service that I stumbled upon a little while ago; however, I had my interest rekindled by a mention of it in DotNet. I like this app it’s realistic…its lifestreaming at a slower pace, a kind of twitter for those that don’t really care that much.

It’s powered by Tumblr family hence the dawdlr.tumblr.com URL and is a piss take of twitter, a of sort tell us what you’re doing on post card and we’ll update it when we can be bothered.

You have to love the originality and it probably won’t surprise you that Russell Davies is behind it all.
